CHICAGO, IL — February 25, 2014 — Nitel, a leading nationwide managed telecom service provider, today announced that it has expanded its North American IP network.  Building on an aggressive network expansion plan that began in 2013, Nitel has broadened its footprint in the Midwest and Southeast by adding 70,000 buildings with Ethernet connectivity.

The Nitel network delivers secure, reliable network service on its Cisco powered MPLS core to business clients nationwide through 67 core and access POPs across the country.  With the expansion, Nitel’s network now consists of over 150,000 buildings lit with competitive fiber.  This marks a 51% increase in total network coverage over the previous year, with plans for additional sites in the future.

Through the Nitel network, the company delivers a wide variety of access technologies, including Ethernet over Copper — available from 1,430 central offices — as well as T1, DS3, SONET, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet.

“The recent additions to our network afford our customers highly competitive pricing as well as true RBOC last mile diversity,” COO Ron Grason said.  “With this expansion Nitel continues to strengthen our core nationwide network, while positioning ourselves for future growth.”

Through a single NNI, carriers and service providers looking to expand their footprint can do so cost effectively with speed and ease.

Nitel will be attending this spring’s COMPTEL PLUS expo March 16th to March 19th at the Aria Resort in Las Vegas.  Carrier Solutions Managers will be on hand to discuss Nitel’s expanded network, competitive pricing, and plans for 2014.
