CHICAGO [January 26, 2016] – Nitel, a leading nationwide managed telecom service provider, announced today that it has activated a new point of presence (POP) in Seattle. In keeping with Nitel’s strategy of establishing a presence at the premier Internet collocation facility in each market, the new POP is located in Seattle’s Westin building at 2001 6th Avenue.
With the Seattle POP in place, Nitel customers will benefit from greater network redundancy and improved performance at service locations in the western United States. Vice president of engineering Lawrence Edmond said, “Nitel has offered IP, MPLS, and Ethernet services nationally for many years by leveraging our unique interconnection agreements. The Seattle POP brings the heart of the network closer to our customers in the Northwest, which results in better performance, lower latency and improved uptime.”
Leveraging its proprietary interconnection strategy, Nitel delivers increased reach, more intelligent design and better pricing. The Seattle POP is Nitel’s seventh, with the others in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles and New York. The POP was turned up in December and is already carrying customer traffic.
