Chicago, IL — October 6, 2014 — Nitel, a facilities-based provider of telecommunications network services, today introduced Nitel Ethernet Services for carriers and service providers.
Nitel Ethernet Services allows clients to expand their network reach to any location on Nitel’s nationwide network through a single ENNI. Clients can interconnect with Nitel at any of the company’s 61 strategically located points of presence to reach new territories or diverse end-user locations.
Since launching the Nitel network, the company has set on a rapid growth trajectory, with the list of fiber-lit CLEC buildings on the network now eclipsing 500,000, a 233% increase over what the company announced in February. They also have the ability to serve Ethernet over fiber from over 15,000 ILEC/RBOC central offices and Ethernet over copper from 1,430 ILEC/RBOC central offices.
“Interconnecting via Ethernet is critical to many of our carrier and service provider clients’ expansion plans. Nitel Ethernet Services gives them the ability to serve customers in new and untapped areas, or at more attractive costs, while giving them the flexibility to deliver their own Internet, MPLS, cloud portfolio or other services transparently over our network,” COO Ron Grason said. “They also see a tremendous amount of value in our proprietary tools which provide automated pricing, real-time network monitoring and ticketing.”
Nitel Ethernet Services offers ENNIs at 1GB or 10GB, with UNIs ranging from 2MB to 1GB. Multiple last-mile options include Ethernet over fiber, Ethernet over copper, Ethernet over DS1/DS3, and, coming soon, Ethernet over DOCSIS. Nitel currently supports Ethernet Access Service (E-Access), providing a high level of transparency ideal for carriers and service providers.
Nitel will be attending the COMPTEL PLUS Expo October 5th – 8th at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas, TX. Carrier Solutions representatives will be on hand to discuss Nitel’s latest product offerings and network expansion.
