Nitel, a nationwide telecom management service provider, today announced that it has added industry veteran Bill Hager as director of carrier sales. Hager will lead the expansion of the company’s carrier sales organization in anticipation of rolling out its nationwide IP network.
The company recently completed the second phase of its network build out strategy by securing interconnections in its Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles POP locations. The interconnections enable wide-scale last-mile access anywhere in the country. The carrier sales team will promote Nitel’s ability to offer service providers expanded geographic reach through a single source, speed to market and the ability to augment or complement existing product offerings, all while keeping capital expenditures to a minimum.
Nitel CEO Rick Stern remarked, “Nitel’s network will play a large part in the company’s strategic direction moving forward. We are thrilled to be able to leverage Bill’s experience and talent to make this a success.”
Ron Grason, Nitel COO added, “The deployment of our network is a shift away from the pure reseller model on which Nitel was built. While the value we provide as rural network experts with over 100 underlying carrier partnerships still holds true, the Nitel network makes us more competitive on a broader scale.”
Hager joins Nitel with over 25 years of sales, management and leadership experience in the telecommunications industry, starting his career with Sprint and Ameritech. Since the late 1990s, he has focused almost exclusively on the carrier segment both internationally and domestically with Qwest (CenturyLink) and most recently with Tata Communications.
Hager will be based at Nitel’s corporate headquarters in Chicago.
