Newton’s first law of motion states that an object in motion will tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an external force.
For Nitel co-founder and president Ron Grason, only the first part holds true. Despite an industry of constant change and external forces everywhere, Ron never stops moving.
Since its founding as a provider of data network services, Nitel has both expanded its scope and its prominence in the industry branching into software defined networking and network security and enhancing its role with customers by increasing its managed services capabilities. As a result, the company has experienced sharp, 100% organic growth and maintained profitability since inception.
Nitel has deployed a nationwide network with points of presence in strategic markets across the country. The network boasts a high level of interconnection, which enables its suite of next-generation network and security offerings.
Combined with a service approach focused on dedicated resources and clear, frequent communication, Nitel simplifies a complex technology landscape for customers and partners alike.
Ron earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from Loyola University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Ron was also a member of Loyola’s men’s soccer team. In 2011, he was inducted into the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame. In 2018, he was also named a Midwest finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award®.
Under Ron’s leadership, Nitel has embraced a philosophy of giving back to the community by supporting numerous charitable organizations. Through corporate giving and staff involvement, Nitel has supported charities like Chicago’s Mercy Home for Boys and Girls, a children’s charity that provides support for at-risk children in the area. For nearly a decade, the Nitel team has donated money, time and resources by participating in everything from mentoring programs and book drives to hosting a career day and putting on its annual 5K Charity Challenge (which, as an avid runner, Ron always wins) to raise money for Mercy Home.
For Nitel, it’s all about constantly adapting to customer needs. Lucky for Nitel, we’ve got a guy at the top that defies the laws of physics to make it happen.
