VP of Network Engineering
Every team needs a guy who’s willing to get his hands dirty. For Lawrence Edmond, that comes naturally. Whether he’s riding a dirt bike or snowmobile, hunting, camping, playing sports or deploying networks, he is not a guy who shies away from a challenge.
As Nitel’s VP of network engineering, Lawrence’s challenge is deploying, managing and expanding Nitel’s nationwide network. He also has executive oversight of Nitel’s Chicago-based network operations center and, along with COO Ron Grason, is in charge of devising Nitel’s product roadmap. In his first year at Nitel, he deployed the first phase of Nitel’s U.S. IP network and drove the development of our cloud-based security service.
Lawrence is a veteran of the technology industry, having started his career with Motorola as a network management engineer. He later held line and management positions with the network groups of IBM Global Services, Corecomm and most recently Comcast. At Comcast, where he was director of engineering, research and development, Edmond designed and implemented several key network transitions, including the company’s Broadsoft based VoIP solution.
An Indiana native, Lawrence attended ITT Technical Institution as well as Purdue University Calumet. He holds multiple Cisco certifications and can often be found tinkering with routers and other black boxes in the lab. He has a keen understanding of technology and enjoys using it to solve business problems, even if it means getting a little dirty in the process.
